Botany

The Department of Botany is a vibrant and integral part of the institution, dedicated to the study and exploration of plant sciences. Established with the vision to foster a deep understanding of plant biology, ecology, taxonomy, physiology, and biotechnology, the department has consistently contributed to academic excellence and research. It offers undergraduate programs that blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills through well-equipped laboratories, herbarium collections, and fieldwork opportunities. The department has successfully skill development courses such as Shatavari Cultivation, Vermicomposting and Mushroom Cultivation. Through these courses students not only have learn practical skills but also has established their own business.

The department also actively promotes awareness of environmental conservation and sustainable development through seminars, workshops, and outreach activities. These activities have also proved useful in developing cognitive skill, vocational skills and life skills among students.  With a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members, the department ensures a student-centric learning environment, encouraging innovation, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry. Many of our alumni have excelled in careers in research and education. The Department of Botany remains committed to nurturing a new generation of botanists who can contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement and ecological balance.

1B.Sc BotanyB.Sc is a 3-year undergraduate course for students who wish to make a career in science and research.
• B.Sc is a 3 year Undergraduate course that can be pursued by students with science streams in their 10+2.
• The minimum eligibility is to have Passed in HSC from a recognized board.
• Admission to this course is offered on a merit basis.
3Certificate CoursesCertificate Course is a 2 credit course developed for students who pursuing B.Sc or M.Sc in our College.
  • Inculcate fundamental of modern and classical aspects of Botany.
  • To develop environmental values among students through awareness programmes.
  • Create a platform for higher education in Botany.
  • To develop different lab skills of Botany.
  • Acquaint student about the various career opportunities in the field of Botany.
  • To perform procedural techniques of handling various instruments such as Microscope, Centrifuge, Incubator, etc.
  •  Give knowledge of various discipline of Botany such as Genetic, Taxonomy, Physiology, etc.
  • Encourage student to take up successful career in Botany.
  • To educate the students about the making of herbaria.
  • To give students various commercial skills such as food processing, mushroom cultivation, soil testing.
